Should I enrol in a piano class?
- October 2, 2023
The benefits of learning an instrument are manyfold. It can improve your confidence, improve your self-esteem and provide you with a way of entertaining others through culture, language and tradition. As an adult, it can put you in a strong position with the ability to perform professionally or join one of the many amateur groups and ensembles rehearsing across Britain. For children, it can provide them with a well-rounded extra-curricular hobby, as well as helping them to gain extra UCAS points for entrance to the top universities and secure entrance to top secondary schools. All in all, learning an instrument helps you to keep a commitment and form skills in practice, preparation and performance.
The piano in particular is a good instrument to learn, particularly for beginners as pre-tuned keys already exist for the novice pianist to form the notes. As famous jazz musician Ray Charles quoted, “The important thing is to feel your music, really feel it and believe it”. And he did not just mean feeling it in a physical sense. He meant feel it also in an emotional sense, as the piano has a power to become your main language for your emotions.
